BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begovic says investment in science and completion of ongoing projects, such as the 450-plus mln euro BIO4 Campus, will help to get the world to come to work in Serbia soon.

In an interview for Tanjug, Begovic said her ministry's results in 2023 also included the opening of the BioSense institute, wage increases for the scientific community and four new digital platforms.

"The start of works to build the BIO4 Campus is probably the biggest success when it comes to investing in scientific infrastructure - it is the largest-ever (such) investment in Serbia and the broader region," she said, adding that the campus would bring together seven university faculties and nine scientific institutes and be home to newly-established startups in biotech, biomedicine, bioinformatics, AI and biodiversity protection.

Begovic said R&D departments of biopharma companies would be important members of the complex scientific community.
