BELGRADE - In the next three and a half years, Serbia will invest a total of 17.8 bln euros across all projects including EXPO 2027, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced at the weekend.
"We are planning to invest 17.8 bln euros, which is equivalent to the annual budget of the Republic of Serbia. From that, you should subtract the 2.4 bln envisioned in this year's budget, which therefore leaves you with an additional 15.4 bln euros," Vucic said on Saturday evening at a presentation of the Leap Into The Future - Serbia EXPO 2027 investment programme for 2024-2027.
If it is successful and does everything as planned, Serbia will by 2027 increase its GDP to 92.7 bln, over three times more than the 2012 GDP, Vucic said.
"We are hoping for slightly more favourable geopolitical circumstances and slightly higher investments, which could take that to as much as 100 bln," he said.
He also said the average monthly wage in Serbia currently amounted to 836 euros and would exceed 1,000 euros in 2025.
