BELGRADE - Japanese companies are always welcome in Serbia, PM Ana Brnabic said at a meeting with Toyo Tire Corporation CEO Takashi Shimizu in Belgrade on Thursday.
Brnabic noted that the company could count on any kind of government support in Serbia.
She said she was pleased Toyo Tire Corporation had established a production plant in Indjija, northwestern Serbia, the government press office said in a statement.
Brnabic said Serbia was stepping up investment in, and application of, artificial intelligence and IT technologies in industry and noted that this had a positive impact on cooperation with Japanese and all other international companies operating in Serbia.
Shimizu noted the significant progress made by the Indjija plant, a nearly 400 mln euro investment that started operations in 2022.
He said the factory boasted immaculate product quality and was mostly exporting to the US, Canada and the EU.
Shimizu also said he was especially pleased with cooperation with the University of Novi Sad and announced further investments in Serbia.
The meeting was also attended by Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Akira Imamura.
