BELGRADE - Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said on Monday a conclusion by the Council of Europe money laundering watchdog MONEYVAL that Serbia had made progress on development of an anti-money laundering and terror financing system confirmed the country was on the right track.
The conclusion is included in the latest MONEYVAL report, published earlier in the day.
In a statement released by his ministry, Mali said good news such as this helped to improve Serbia's international image.
"Serbia has improved its anti-money laundering and terror financing regime, especially when it comes to compliance with the recommendation on new technologies. We have been moved from the Partly Compliant category to the Largely Compliant category for 35 of 40 recommendations, and this step forward is a concrete, visible result of our work in this field in the past three years, when we undertook additional improvement measures," Mali also said.
