BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begovic met with UK Ambassador to Serbia Sian Macleod on Thursday to discuss planned projects and aspects of future bilateral cooperation.
There is space for further deepening of cooperation between universities because the UK evidently already has a large number of experts in various fields who come from Serbia, Macleod said.
Begovic informed MacLeod of the details of a project to design and build a BIO4 campus, as well as of other ongoing projects by her ministry, including a project aimed at accelerating innovation and encouraging growth of entrepreneurship in Serbia, and the ambassador noted the significance of British Council activities in Serbia.
They also touched upon the great significance of investing in science, noting that projects such as BIO4 represented a way Serbia needed to be portrayed globally.
"Our aspiration must be to create ecosystems that are challenging enough for local experts here in Serbia, so that they want to return or at least spend some time here, share their knowledge and contribute to further development of those ecosystems. BIO4 will be such a place," Begovic said.
