NOVI SAD - Chinese autoparts manufacturer Jiangsu Lianbo ceremonially opened a plant in the Novi Sad suburb of Kac on Thursday.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Serbian Deputy PM and Defence Minister Milos Vucevic, who said Jiangsu Lianbo was a serious, world-renowned company that would have 120 machines in Kac.
He added that Serbia would continue to cherish the steely Sino-Serbian friendship.
"This is not something that happens every day, but a result of serious work and a clear strategy," he noted.
Novi Sad Mayor Milan Djuric said the unemployment rate in the city was at around 6 pct.
"The arrival of a new company is big news for Novi Sad and Serbia. We have succeeded in getting this global giant to choose Novi Sad. The friendship between our two presidents (Serbia's Aleksandar Vucic and China's Xi Jinping) and the steely ties between our two countries contributed to that," Djuric said.
Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Ming said Chinese investments in Serbia were growing.
"I hope the situation will keep improving. In 2022, China became Serbia's largest source of FDI," Li said.
