BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday Serbia would purchase the latest version of French-made Rafale fighter jets and that talks were underway about the armament they would come with.
"It is the latest version - version 4.1, which was prepared for the French army a month ago. So, it is the latest and the most modern version," Vucic told reporters when asked to comment on reports by some media outlets that Serbia would acquire an inferior version of the jets.
"They have leading-edge radar systems and the best protection. We have been buying all the best equipment and everything we have is new and modernised. Pay attention to our helicopters. They are all armed. That is not for show or for photo opportunities, but for real deterrence of those who would want to commit an aggression on our country," Vucic said during a tour of a display of Serbian Armed Forces arms and equipment at the Flag 2024 show at the Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlovic Military Airport in Batajnica near Belgrade.
