BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced Serbia would next Wednesday sign an agreement with US energy firm UGTR that would provide the country with 1 GW of newly installed power generation capacity relying on solar panels.
"We will sign an agreement with UGTR next week. I discussed that all the time with (US) President (Joe) Biden, too. He himself spoke about how significant a company it is and how important it is for us to continue investing in energy, because we will not have enough electricity if we do not hurry up," Vucic said in response to questions from reporters after a meeting with US Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment Jose Fernandez.
"That is, say, one of the projects, and it is not a project worth 1.6 mln, but a project worth 1.5 or 1.6 bln. These are enormous and strategic projects for our country, and there will be more of them," Vucic said.
