Vucevic, Blanar discuss advancement of bilateral cooperation

BELGRADE - Serbian PM Milos Vucevic and Slovak FM Juraj Blanar met in Belgrade on Friday to discuss bilateral relations between their traditionally close and friendly countries, as well as advancement of cooperation.

Vucevic noted that he highly appreciated Slovakia's support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, and its firm position of non-recogniton of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo, the Serbian government said in a statement.

Vucevic thanked Slovakia for abstaining in a UN General Assembly vote on a Srebrenica resolution and noted that the resolution would in no way contribute to stabilisation in the region or improvement of the relationship between Serbs and Bosniaks.

He also thanked Slovakia for the strong and continued support provided at the highest political level for Serbia's EU integration process, as well as for its persevering position that EU enlargement is a necessity.

He noted that there was mutual interest and space for boosting economic cooperation and that the volume of bilateral trade had risen in recent years.

Slovakia has vast experience when it comes to renewable energy sources, Vucevic said, noting that experience-sharing in that sector could be very significant for Serbia.

Blanar said Serbia's Slovak national minority and Slovakia's Serbian minority were making a special contribution to the relations between the two countries.

Blanar said the bilateral relations were very good and substantial and added that Slovakia and Serbia maintained intensive and continued political dialogue at all levels.
