STRASBOURG - Pristina's application for Council of Europe (CoE) membership is not on the agenda of Wednesday's meeting of the organisation's Committee of Ministers, it has been confirmed to Tanjug.
According to Tanjug sources, US embassies have sent a joint note to the foreign ministries of some CoE member states in which Washington requested that the issue of the so-called Kosovo's CoE membership not be put on the Committee's agenda until Pristina changes its stance on a Community of Serb Municipalities in Kosovo-Metohija.
The sources said Italy, France and Germany shared the US position and that Washington believed a change of Pristina's stance on the issue would pave the way for further talks about a proposed fundamental agreement between Belgrade and Pristina.
At a closed-door session, the Committee will decide on whether to table Pristina's membership application to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe for a vote.
