BELGRADE - The head of the Serbian national delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Dejan Ristic, who is also Serbia's minister of information and telecommunications, met with US Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues Ellen Germain in Belgrade on Thursday.
In a long, constructive and open discussion, Ristic reiterated Serbia's commitment to a culture of remembrance of Jewish, Serb and Roma victims of WWII, especially those killed in the genocide committed against the Serbs, Jews and Roma by the Independent State of Croatia, the Serbian Ministry of Information and Telecommunications said in a statement.
Ristic noted Serbia's most significant results in preservation, research and presentation of execution sites and military memorials (Staro sajmiste, Jajinci, Topovske supe, Kragujevac, Novi Sad, Kraljevo and others).
Ristic also raised Serbia's concerns over increasingly frequent cases of forging facts about the period of WWII and, especially, cases of denial of the genocidal character, the mass scale and the territorial spread of the mass crimes committed against the Serbs, Jews and Roma by the Independent State of Croatia.
