WASHINGTON - The US welcomes Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's constructive stance on dialogue on Kosovo-Metohija, FM Ivica Dacic said on Thursday in Washington after attending the Prayer Breakfast.

He said conversations with US State Department Counsellor Derek Chollet and US special Western Balkans envoy Gabriel Escobar were the highlights of his visit to Washington.

"We are now in the critical stage of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue where, on one hand, you have Belgrade, which has a constructive role and, on the other hand, Pristina," Dacic said.

"That is why I think I can express full satisfaction with what I heard in Washington - that everyone welcomes President Vucic's stance and assesses it as constructive and responsible. That stance is a clear definition of what we do not accept and what we think are the red lines - above all, Kosovo's entry to the UN and other international organisations, as well as the position that a Community of Serb Municipalities is not something to be negotiated, but something that should be done first," he said.

After many years, we are in a position where no one sees Belgrade as an obstacle in dialogue or talks, and where criticism is chiefly being directed at Albin Kurti, he said.

"We believe Kurti does not want a Community of Serb Municipalities and is against any peace agreement. Therefore, Serbia's role is very important, and those are the most significant results of this visit," Dacic said.
