BELGRADE - Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic spoke with International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) Director General Michael Spindelegger on Friday in Belgrade about strengthening the cooperation in the field of migration management and security.
Dacic noted that Serbia had been a full ICMPD member since 2014 and noted the significance of cooperation with the organisation for Serbia and the region, adding that Serbia was ready to further strengthen its capacities in the field of migration management and return, as well as to be a dependable partner in fighting irregular migration and people smuggling, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
Spindelegger commended Serbia's efforts on migration policies and security, highlighting the importance of its role in regional projects.
The parties also discussed upcoming initiatives, including organising Prague Process activities in Belgrade in the first half of 2025, which will contribute to development of regional dialogue and an exchange of knowledge in the field of migration management, the statement said.
Dacic and Spindelegger agreed the meeting reconfirmed the significance of the partnership between Serbia and the ICMPD in tackling contemporary migration challenges through cooperation and joint efforts.
