BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with North Macedonian PM Hristijan Mickoski in Belgrade on Friday to discuss strengthening of relations and common initiatives for a more stable future for citizens, as well as economic projects.
"We discussed economic and infrastructure projects, with particular emphasis on building a Budapest-Belgrade-Skopje-Athens-Piraeus rail line that would connect southern and central Europe, as well as advancement of trade and cooperation in the energy sector," Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram profile.
The parties agreed that solidarity and mutual support were crucial for stability and development across the region.
"I am especially grateful for the fact North Macedonia is one of the key partners in the Open Balkan initiative, which has become a symbol of strong regional cooperation and connectivity in the Western Balkans. Our common objective is a better future for all citizens, and cooperation through the Open Balkan initiative and other projects remains a firm foundation upon which we are building the future of the entire region," he said.
He expressed the confidence relations in the spirit of friendship and partnership will be developed in the future as well.
