Lajcak, Guterres discuss W Balkans, EU enlargement

NEW YORK - The EU special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Miroslav Lajcak said on Thursday he had spoken with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York about the Western Balkans and EU enlargement.

"Such an honour to meet with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. I enjoyed our conversation about the Western Balkans and EU enlargement and appreciate his insights and assessments," Lajcak wrote in a post on X.

Earlier, he met with UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo to discuss the Western Balkans, developments in the region and the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.

Previously, he also visited Washington, where he spoke with US Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard Verma, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Western Balkans Alexander Kasanof.
