Djuric receives Dutch ambassador to Belgrade

BELGRADE - At a meeting with Dutch Ambassador to Belgrade Martijn Elgersma, Serbian FM Marko Djuric said the relations between Serbia and the Netherlands were good but that the cooperation between the two countries could be advanced significantly in many areas through open dialogue.

Serbia has clearly set foreign policy objectives and a European agenda and sees intensive international cooperation as a priority of its activities, especially in view of global challenges and geopolitical developments, a statement released by the Serbian MFA quoted Djuric as saying.

The minister said full EU membership was a strategic goal for Serbia and that the country would carry out all required reform processes by end-2026 to become fully prepared for accession.

On that path, Serbia expects support and assistance from its European partners and friends, Djuric added.

Serbia remains committed to maintaining peace and stability in the region while continuing to work intensively on further economic progress, he said.

The strengthening economic cooperation is a good example of the development of the relations between the two countries, the Netherlands being one of the largest investors in Serbia, he also said.

Djuric noted that the issue of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija was a national priority for Serbia and informed the ambassador of the pressure faced by Serbs in the southern province.
