THE HAGUE - At the end of a visit to the Netherlands, Serbian FM Marko Djuric met with his Dutch counterpart Caspar Veldkamp in The Hague on Tuesday evening to discuss advancement of political and economic cooperation.
At a working dinner with a delegation of the Dutch MFA, Djuric said that, historically, Serbia and the Netherlands shared the same freedom-loving values.
"Our Constitution from the 19th century was the most progressive constitution in Europe. Serbia and the Netherlands have a significant potential to advance political as well as economic cooperation," a statement released by the Serbian MFA quoted Djuric as saying.
The two ministers also discussed cultural cooperation and Djuric confirmed that full EU membership was Serbia's main foreign policy objective.
He told Veldkamp Serbia planned to complete by end-2026 all legislative as well as political reforms required for EU accession.
He said Serbia was one of Europe's top performers in terms of economic growth.
They also discussed regional topics, major security issues related to current geopolitical affairs as well as protests that are taking place in Serbia.
Djuric invited the Netherlands to participate in EXPO 2027, to be held in Belgrade, and urged Dutch companies to get involved in carrying out the internationally relevant project.
