Vucic: There was no sound cannon at March 15 protest because there are none in Serbia

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday evening no sound cannons or vortex cannons had been used at a March 15 protest in Belgrade because there were no such devices in Serbia.

"Essentially, when you have nothing to say to people, then you have to lie - and brutally. I am telling you now: if our forces used a sound cannon or a vortex cannon, or whatever it is called, I am no longer president," Vucic said on Pink TV.

He said lies about a sound cannon had been floated to distract attention from the fact the protest had failed even though dozens of millions of euros had been invested in it.

He said those who had come up with such claims were miserable liars who should be ashamed of themselves.

"Do not make me remind you that the lie started from (opposition leader) Zdravko Ponos, who could not tell an anti-drone rifle from a sound cannon," Vucic said, adding that "various miserable people" had eroded the Serbian Armed Forces in the past.
