BELGRADE - Twenty-six years on, the glory of the heroes of Kosare, who defended the state border from terrorist forces aided by NATO, remains undiminished, Serbia's caretaker PM Milos Vucevic said on Wednesday.
"The heroism and courage of our soldiers, who, over the course of 67 days, succeeded in thwarting a breakthrough of a much more numerous enemy from Albania and in defending the territory of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from a ground aggression are written in gold letters in our history," Vucevic wrote in an Instagram post on the 26th anniversary of the beginning of the 1999 Battle of Kosare in Kosovo-Metohija.
He noted that, in the battle, 108 soldiers had given their lives for the defence of the country.
"The glory of those soldiers, our fatherland's finest sons, is undiminished as many as 26 years later, and is growing every day. We remember their feat, thanks to which we know well today what it means to love your country above all else. Eternal glory be to our heroes, and eternal gratitude," Vucevic wrote in the post.
