BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Wednesday evening he would go to Moscow for the May 9 Victory Day parade and that he would proudly represent Serbia at celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism.
"As early as eight months ago, I said I will be going to Moscow. I will be going to Moscow. I will probably going to Moscow alone because other organisations cannot take that risk. I do not want the government of Djuro Macut to pay a price. I want him to have an opportunity to do everything with the EU as it should be done, so that no one can say anything to him. The army will hardly be going because it would face various attacks and sanctions," Vucic said on Pink TV.
He said there was more work to do in Moscow and that he would also discuss a new gas arrangement for Serbia with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"We need to sign a gas arrangement by May 30. We must solve the issue of the oil company (the Russian majority-owned NIS). We must discuss all other topics," Vucic said.
He added that he believed that, before that, he would have an opportunity to speak with many high-ranking representatives of the US Republican Party and US state officials and that, meanwhile, he would also speak with top EU leaders, and noted that EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos would visit Belgrade at the end of April.
