BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday a Serbia in Europe was the country's path and objective and that he had never called that into question, and noted that, always and everywhere - including in Moscow and in Brussels - he spoke about what was in the interest of the people of Serbia.

Responding to questions from reporters at a press conference with European Council President Antonio Costa, Vucic said his duty was to serve the people of Serbia and the citizens, and not to listen to or serve anyone else.

"That is how I have been behaving and how I will always behave," Vucic added, noting that he always spoke his mind and said what was "in the interest of our people - in Moscow, in Brussels and everywhere."

He said the purpose of his recent visit to Moscow had been to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism.

"Serbia and the Serbs made an enormous contribution to the victory over fascism. I spoke about that as early as in October, and I said and communicated that to everyone. I did not deceive anyone or lie to anyone. I announced I would be going, unlike many others who did not announce that, but ended up there. And, of course, I discussed a gas agreement since we are looking to diversify supplies," Vucic said.

He noted that a Serbia in Europe was "our path, our objective and our political vision."

"I believe that, without any doubt, the future new president and some new government will continue on this path in two years," Vucic said.
