THE HAGUE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic, who is visiting the Netherlands, said on Wednesday the effect Serbia's reluctance to impose sanctions on Russia and President Aleksandar Vucic's recent trip to Moscow would have on Serbia's EU path had been the topic of all her discussions in The Hague.

Speaking to reporters, Brnabic said she was pleased to be in the Netherlands and to have had an opportunity to discuss those topics, and added that she told Dutch officials Serbia was proud of its activities, its president and its sovereignty.

"I explained that the president went (to Moscow) to pay a tribute to the heroes who fell for our freedom. Our people is one of the most suffering peoples, and we belonged there. Nothing that is happening today changes that. I do not see that this can, or should, affect our European path," Brnabic said.

She added that she had asked the Netherlands - one of the most skeptical EU states when it comes to Serbia's EU path - to support opening Cluster 3 in the country's accession talks.

She noted that sanctions on Russia and Vucic's visit to Moscow had been the only topics, whereas the political situation in Serbia and blockades, Kosovo-Metohija, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska had not been discussed at all.

Brnabic said she had noted that Serbia had nothing to hide and that Vucic had the same narrative in Brussels and wherever else he went.
