Macut, Italian ambassador discuss bilateral relations

BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut received Italian Ambassador to Belgrade Luca Gori on Friday to discuss advancement of bilateral relations, above all, in the fields of the economy, investment and tourism.
Macut noted that Italy was an important partner to Serbia when it comes to investing but that there was more room for new investment, a government statement said.
He said direct cooperation between Serbian and Italian businesses was multiply significant for new investment in both markets, and added that friendly relations between the two countries confirmed a historical continuity, which he noted was also a guarantee for the times to come.
Macut said he expected to see new Italian investment in Serbia in the coming period thanks to a great potential and exceptional political and strategic ties between Serbia and Italy.
At the meeting, Macut and Gori also discussed strengthening of cooperation in science, education and culture.
Gori highlighted the long tradition of friendship and partnership between the two countries and said it was a solid foundation for further support for Serbia on the EU integration path.
Gori and Macut agreed that historical relations were very important and that extremely lively dialogue was underway at this time, especially when it comes to cooperation in the economy, science, business and culture, as well as in many other areas, the statement said.
