Macut, UAE ambassador discuss bilateral relations

BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut met with UAE Ambassador to Serbia Ahmed Hatem AlMenhali on Monday to discuss opportunities for advancement of bilateral relations.

Macut thanked the UAE for its support to date, especially in infrastructure and the economy, and noted that he saw opportunities for cooperation in the tourism and industry sectors as well, a government statement said.

Serbia sees the UAE as a key partner in the Middle East, Macut said, adding that the cooperation was strategically important for Serbia, especially in the context of economic and political relations.

Thanks to its geographic position, Serbia provides the UAE with easier access to the broad and dynamic European market, Macut said.

AlMenhali said his country was ready to take part in large-scale infrastructure projects in Serbia, especially in the renewables sector and development of the IT sector and artificial intelligence.

AlMenhali highlighted the importance of further strengthening of economic cooperation and called for continued joint work in sectors such as agriculture and technology.

The parties agreed that cooperation in tourism, culture and education was key for strengthening of friendly ties between the two peoples.

They concluded that the next steps would be aimed at concrete implementation of joint projects that should strengthen further the strategic cooperation between Serbia and the UAE.
