BELGRADE - Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said Tuesday's release of three people detained on suspicion of attacking the constitutional order of Serbia showed that certain decisions were made under pressure, and noted that state authorities and judicial institutions should be acting in line with the interests of all citizens and that their decisions must not be politicised.
In an appearance on Pink TV, Dacic said state authorities needed to be acting in line with the law and that there was no room for debates about anyone's political preferences.
"Decisions must not have anything to do with whether you are leaning towards certain political structures or not," he added.
He noted that the three had been accused of one of the gravest criminal acts.
"It is not a crime of smaller gravity, so what does this mean? That, if someone is setting up blockades, decisions can be made under pressure?" he said.
We should raise the question of the whereabouts of others who have fled the country, and have still not returned, after being accused of the same crime, Dacic said.
"If anyone has had any doubt about it, we have now come to a clear situation where someone wants to become an electoral candidate and is requesting early elections and making electoral lists," Dacic said.
