CHENGDU - A Serbian delegation headed by Deputy Parliament Speaker Marina Ragus met with the vice premier of China's State Council Ding Xuexiang, who noted that the iron-clad Sino-Serbian friendship had gone through numerous challenges, becoming stronger over time.
Ding noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping had met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic several times to point to the direction of development of bilateral relations.
"China stands ready to cooperate with Serbia on implementing an important consensus reached by the two statesmen, to support problem-solving and deepen the high-quality cooperation in the joint building of the Belt and Road and to make cooperation in scientific and technological innovation a new point of growth for bilateral relations, as well as to promote further achievements in building a Sino-Serbian community with a shared future in the new era," Ding said.
Ragus noted that 2025 marked 70 years of the Serbian-Chinese friendship.
She highlighted scientific and innovation achievements that were a part of bilateral cooperation with China, such as mobility and research projects.
The Serbian delegation especially thanked China for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, and noted that Serbia would continue to support the One China policy.
"After the meeting of the two presidents in Moscow on May 9, and in light of President Aleksandar Vucic's upcoming visit to China in early September, we can say that the relations between the two states have embarked on a new, even better and more substantial phase, to be overseen by the two presidents at regular annual meetings. It is up to all of us to give substance to those relations," an official statement released by the Serbian parliament quoted Ragus as saying.
The meeting took place during the 2nd Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology in the Chinese city of Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
