BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Japanese Ambassador to Belgrade Akira Imamura on Monday to discuss bilateral relations, economic cooperation and global and regional affairs.

In an Instagram post, Vucic wrote that he had noted that Serbia-Japan trade was seeing strong growth and that there was enormous space for further growth, from the IT sector and the automotive industry, to tourism, agriculture and organic farming.

"I thanked the Japanese partners for the trust they have placed in our country, as well as for the strong support and continued investments that are extremely significant for Serbia," Vucic said.

He especially welcomed a Toyo Tire announcement of a new investment in Indjija, northwestern Serbia, that will include an expansion of production capacities, and noted that the investment was a part of the company's strategic decision to make Serbia the hub of its European operations, with research and development capacities and many other corporate functions.

"With special pride, I highlighted Serbia's extremely successful participation in the World EXPO 2025 in Osaka, which has positioned our country further as the host of the prestigious event in 2027," Vucic also posted on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram profile.
