CAIRO - Serbian PM Djuro Macut met with Egyptian Senate Speaker Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razeq in Cairo on Thursday to discuss strengthening the cooperation between the two countries.
The parties agreed the cooperation was based on a decades-long friendship and understanding and that there was space to advance it, especially in the economy, business, trade and tourism, the Serbian government said in a statement.
Macut said a Serbia-Egypt FTA lent a major impetus to deepening the cooperation.
He thanked Abdel-Razeq for confirming Egypt's participation in the specialised EXPO 2027 Belgrade, which is expected to attract 2.5 million visitors from around the world.
Macut also thanked the Egyptian Senate speaker for Egypt's position regarding the Kosovo-Metohija issue and regarding the safeguarding of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, and noted that the Republic of Serbia deeply respected that stance.
Serbia is committed to peace, respect for international law and dialogue as a way of overcoming all outstanding issues, Macut said.
