BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said on Thursday student protesters who were behind months-long blockades in the country planned to deal "the ultimate blow" to Serbia on St Vitus's Day, June 28, and were threatening everyone in the country with blockades of thoroughfares, infrastructure, investments and institutions.

In a post on X, Brnabic wrote the people should not be afraid or worried and noted that Serbia, led by President Aleksandar Vucic, would never be left to those who wanted Serbian citizens to live in fear.

"They want life in Serbia to stop, and they literally say 'Not only citizens will be in fear' - they promise that foreign investors, 'governments and embassies cooperating with this regime or considering investments' will be in fear, too," Brnabic added, asking all supporters of blockades whether this was terrorism.

"They predict that Serbia will lose 292 mln euros in the first five days of their blockades and that, if the situation continues, Serbia's estimated losses will exceed 800 mln euros! That is 800 mln euros for pensions, salaries, health care, schools and support for families with children! That is what they want to take away from the people," Brnabic noted.

The protesters have announced a protest in Belgrade for June 28.

According to reports by some media outlets, they plan to block key thoroughfares in the city and foreign companies.
