BUDAPEST - The director of Serbia's Office for Public and Cultural Diplomacy Arnaud Gouillon met with Hungarian PM Viktor Orban's international spokesperson Zoltan Kovacs in Budapest on Thursday to discuss Serbia-Hungary projects in the sphere of digital communications.
The parties shared experiences in that field, which is becoming an important means of achieving state interests, the Office for Public and Cultural Diplomacy said in a statement.
"Connecting Serbia and Hungary through large projects such as a Belgrade-Budapest high-speed rail line and a gas interconnector must also be accompanied by building bridges of communication that will support that development. Serbia and Hungary can work together on advancement of digital communication techniques," Gouillon said after the meeting.
Digital diplomacy must not only be a reaction to crises, but a proactive tool in safeguarding state interests, as well as identity, values and the truth, he added.
"In a time when silence can be more dangerous than lies, being clear, present and consistent in the digital space means being responsible to one's own people," Gouillon said.
