ST JOHN'S - Serbian FM Marko Djuric met with Organisation of American States (OAS) Secretary-General Albert Ramdin on Friday, noting that Serbia attached great significance to developing its cooperation with Latin American and Caribbean states.
The two officials met on the sidelines of the 55th OAS General Assembly session in St John's, Antigua and Barbuda.
Djuric said Serbia's attendance at the session confirmed its commitment to building stronger ties with the Latin American and Caribbean region.
He thanked Ramdin for OAS's support for Serbia as an observer in the organisation and noted that Serbia had sincere partners in the OAS.
For Serbia, it is important to actively participate in multilateral forums, especially those promoting dialogue and respect for international law, Djuric said.
He reiterated that Serbia was open to cooperation in education, cultural exchange and strengthening of institutional ties, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.
Djuric also said the specialised EXPO 2027 in Belgrade was an opportunity for forging further ties with the Latin American and Caribbean region in culture, as well as in investments and technological cooperation.
The parties agreed there was space for more concrete forms of cooperation in the coming period and Djuric said he expected Serbia-OAS dialogue to be continued through regular contacts and participation in upcoming forums.
