Israeli ambassador: Serbia–US–Israel partnership natural

BELGRADE - Israeli Ambassador to Belgrade Avivit Bar-Ilan said on Tuesday a trilateral Serbia–US–Israel partnership was natural as the three countries shared common values and interests.

She said Serbia and Israel had a "common destiny and history" that brought them "so naturally close to each other."

"This partnership happens even without formalising it," Bar-Ilan said at a conference titled Belgrade Strategic Dialogue: Serbia–US–Israel Partnership, hosted by the Congress of Serbian-American Friendship in the National Assembly building.

"I look forward to continued dialogue and partnership in innovation, in science and technology, on strategic consultations, and on the parliamentary exchanges that we were witnessing last week in Jerusalem," she said.

The ambassador also said the US was a "strong strategic partner of Israel."

"This is a partnership that fights together for the free democratic world. This robust alliance between the US and Israel is stronger than ever, and it found its manifestation three weeks ago, when we were jointly fighting the axis of evil in eliminating the Iranian nuclear missile threat from the Western hemisphere," she said.

"The decision of (US) President (Donald) Trump to join Israel, not only in its defence but to strike Iran's nuclear capabilities, was a historic one and an act of leadership and friendship, and we highly value that," she noted.
