ACCRA - Serbian FM Marko Djuric and Ghanaian Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Iddrisu Adams signed on Friday in Accra a MoU on cooperation in the field of youth and sports and discussed strengthening of bilateral cooperation in those areas.
Djuric "emphasised Serbia's pride in the traditionally friendly relations and long-standing cooperation between the two countries, reaffirming Serbia's strong commitment to deepening engagement with Ghana - a valued friend and reliable partner - across various domains," the Serbian MFA said in a statement.
"He noted that both Serbia and Ghana are internationally recognised as sporting nations, highlighting that enhanced cooperation in the realm of sports would yield mutual benefits.
Minister Djuric underscored that athletes serve as bridges between nations and act as ambassadors of their countries throughout the world. He expressed particular satisfaction that Serbia’s most accomplished athletes and sports professionals enjoy recognition in Ghana.
Reaffirming Serbia’s position as a sporting nation, he conveyed the country's interest in jointly advancing sports cooperation with Ghana and expressed confidence that the newly-signed Memorandum of Understanding would serve as a significant step forward in that direction.
He also thanked Ghana for confirming its participation in the Specialised Expo 2027, stressing that the event provides an ideal opportunity for Ghana to showcase itself on the global stage.
Minister Djuric reiterated that Serbia would be honoured to welcome a delegation from this friendly nation and extended an official invitation to the Minister of Sports of Ghana to visit Belgrade and Serbia on that occasion," the statement also said.
