BELGRADE - Serbian Justice Minister Nenad Vujic met with Dutch Ambassador to Belgrade Martijn Elgersma on Wednesday to discuss advancement of cooperation in the judiciary and rule of law.
They discussed possibilities for further strengthening of bilateral cooperation, especially in the context of Serbia's EU integration, a judicial reform and experience-sharing in digitalisation of the judicial system, the Ministry of Justice said in a statement.
Elgersma noted that the Netherlands strongly supported Serbia's EU path, and stressed the significance of rule of law and legal certainty, as well as alignment with EU legislation.
Vujic informed Elgersma of current and planned MoJ activities as part of Chapter 23 in Serbia's EU accession talks, of which the ministry is the main coordinator.
He noted Serbia's commitment to continuing the reform process in line with a revised action plan for Chapter 23 and a 2020-2025 strategy for development of the judiciary, as well as with a reform agenda aligned with the EU's Growth Plan.
He especially highlighted upcoming activities aimed at advancing the normative and strategic framework as a precondition for effective implementation of judicial reforms along with compliance with EU recommendations and Council of Europe standards.
