Macut, Israeli ambassador discuss development of friendly relations, cooperation

BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut met with Israeli Ambassador to Belgrade Avivit Bar-Ilan on Wednesday to discuss continued development of friendly relations between the two countries, based on mutual trust, respect and understanding.

Macut noted that Serbia was open to further strengthening of political dialogue, economic ties and cultural exchange, and special emphasis was placed on finding ways to advance economic cooperation, especially in agriculture, innovation technologies and energy, the Serbian government said in a statement.

Macut noted Serbia's readiness to contribute, through joint projects, to better ties with Israel and to creation of new investment opportunities.

The ambassador agreed there were numerous areas of cooperation where progress was possible, especially in view of the fact Serbia was a dependable partner to Israel in this region.

She said there was major potential for further development of relations, especially in education, science and the high tech sector.

She once again conveyed Israel's gratitude for the support provided to it by Serbia and the Serbs in difficult times.

The parties agreed that continued intensive dialogue was of great importance for advancement of overall bilateral relations and mutually beneficial cooperation, the statement also said.
