KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - Srpska lista Presidency member Igor Simic said on Monday Pristina's central electoral commission had made illegal and illegitimate decisions regarding the number of voters and electoral board members that were at the expense of Serbs and Srpska lista and that the party had filed a complaint against the decisions.
"We once again call on the electoral panel for complaints and submissions to react and on the commission to revert the discriminatory decisions, as well as on the international community, especially institutions monitoring the electoral process, to get involved in problem-solving as directly as possible," Simic said at a press conference in Kosovska Mitrovica.
He said a decision by the commission discriminated against the strongest Serb party in Kosovo-Metohija and added that someone wanted to use political engineering to prevent people from voting for their representatives in local assemblies or for mayoral candidates.
He said the number of voters in 10 Serb-majority municipalities had declined drastically since the parliamentary elections, especially in the Leposavic municipality, where he noted the number of voters was now down by 1,500.
"Also, there are 1,264 fewer voters in North Mitrovica," he said, adding that the voters had been erased from the register at a local electoral centre where Serbs cast their ballots.
"It is a huge number that can impact the electoral results drastically, both when it comes to assembly members and mayoral elections in our municipality," Simic said.
