BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut received Greek Ambassador to Belgrade Maria Levanti on Friday to discuss bilateral relations, with special emphasis on advancement of cooperation through development projects.

Serbia attaches great significance to further advancement of the cooperation with Greece, which is based on mutual trust and friendship between the two states, an official statement quoted Macut as saying.

He said joint infrastructure projects and the energy, transport, health care and education sectors held major potential for advancement of cooperation.

Macut added that Serbia highly appreciated Greece's support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, as well as its firm stance of non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo.

He thanked Greece for supporting Serbia's EU path and noted that EU membership remained a strategic direction for Serbia.

Levanti said the relations between the two countries were characterised by firm friendship, mutual trust and historically proven closeness and solidarity between the two peoples.

She said bilateral economic cooperation was developing successfully and that there was space to advance it further.
