KAMPALA - Serbian FM Marko Djuric met with Tunisian FM Mohamed Ali Nafti in Kampala, Uganda on Wednesday on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement.

"Expressing satisfaction with today’s meeting, Minister Djuric recalled that the friendship between Serbia and Tunisia dates back from the very founding of the Non-Aligned Movement, and conveyed that Serbia is sincerely committed to the further enhancement of their relations," the Serbian MFA said in a statement.

"Minister Djuric underlined that Serbia highly appreciates Tunisia’s principled position of not recognising the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo, thereby confirming, as he noted, its adherence to the fundamental principles of international law and its strong friendship toward Serbia.

The Serbian Foreign Minister emphasised that Serbia attaches immense importance to the development of bilateral relations with Tunisia. He noted that it is essential to make additional efforts in the coming period to intensify political dialogue, particularly through the exchange of high- and top-level visits, which would give an additional impetus to strengthening the ties between the two countries.

Minister Djuric expressed his conviction that there is considerable potential for the advancement of economic cooperation between Serbia and Tunisia, as well as in the fields of agriculture, tourism, and education, and highlighted the importance of the World in Serbia scholarship programme for international students," the ministry also said.
