Vucic: Serbia-China strategic partnership has produced visible results

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met on Thursday with a delegation of the Chinese Institute for International Studies headed by Institute President Chen Bo, who is also secretary general of the Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy Research Centre.

He thanked Chen for her lasting contribution to the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Serbia and China.

"It is always a special pleasure for me to host dear friends of our country in Belgrade. Today I spoke with Ms Chen Bo, president of the Chinese Institute for International Studies and former ambassador of PR China in Serbia, on occasion of her participation in the Dialogues on China conference," Vucic posted on Instagram.

He noted that, during her ambassadorial tenure in Belgrade, and also as the head of the Institute, Chen had demonstrated a commitment to the Serbia-China friendship and to concrete results.

"As part of the Belt and Road Initiative, together we launched and carried out numerous projects that are beneficial to our citizens. Our comprehensive strategic partnership, from modernisation of railways and the transport infrastructure to new investments, technologies and jobs, has produced visible results. We continue to preserve a good business environment for our companies and open new projects," Vucic wrote in the post.

He added that he had especially thanked the Institute for International Politics and Economy and the Chinese Institute for International Studies for being excellent hosts of an important conference that provided a reminder that open discussions and respect for differing views were a path to a more stable future.

"I am confident that discussions will bring China even closer to Serbia, Europe and the world and open new chapters of our cooperation," Vucic noted.
