Macut, chief rabbi discuss issues of common interest

BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut met with the Chief Rabbi of the Jewish community in Serbia Isak Asiel on Tuesday.

"The meeting highlighted the contribution of the Jewish community to the social and cultural life of Serbia, as well as the importance of fostering mutual understanding and respect.

In an open and constructive conversation, opinions were exchanged on issues of common interest, with particular emphasis on the preservation of cultural heritage, the promotion of interreligious dialogue and the strengthening of cooperation between state institutions and representatives of religious communities," a government statement said.

Macut and Asiel agreed that "continuation of dialogue and partnership is of key importance for preserving the values ​​of tolerance, respect and joint action in the interests of all citizens of the Republic of Serbia," it also said.
