BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric said on Wednesday Serbia firmly supported US President Donald Trump's peace initiative for Ukraine.
"We believe that peace in Ukraine must come immediately. Serbia has taken in 300,000 refugees and displaced persons from war-hit regions. We have opened our homes and provided equal access to education, health care and other institutions," Djuric said at a press conference with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto.
Serbia views the "bleeding in Ukraine" with sadness, Djuric said, adding that the conflict must be brought to an end for the sake of the future of Europe, which he noted was no longer able to withstand that level of devastation - economically, humanly and politically.
Noting that Serbia is not an EU member state, Djuric said Belgrade's vote went to Trump's peace initiative.
