Vucic receives delegation of Italian parliamentary committee on EU affairs

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met on Friday in Belgrade with a delegation of the Italian parliamentary committee on EU affairs, headed by committee chairman Alessandro Giglio Vigna.

Vucic noted that assistance and support from friendly Italy on the EU path was extremely important for Serbia.

In an Instagram post, Vucic noted that the meeting had been good and cordial and that discussions with partners from the EU, such as Italy, were of great importance for sharing experiences and concrete solutions expediting Serbia's EU integration, especially as Italy had been the first EU member state with which Serbia had established strategic cooperation.

Vucic noted that, at the same time, Italy was one of Serbia's most important economic partners and added that he had taken the opportunity to exchange views with the delegation on further advancement of bilateral relations, focusing on economic projects, investments and cooperation bringing concrete results to Serbians.

"With gratitude for Italy's consistent support on our EU path, I noted that Serbia remains committed to progress towards full membership while safeguarding its national interests and stability, as well as that assistance and support from friendly Italy is extremely important to us in those efforts," Vucic posted.
