No Serbians among those killed or wounded in Sydney attack - ambassador

CANBERRA - Serbian Ambassador to Australia Rade Stefanovic said on Monday there were no reports of Serbian nationals killed or wounded in Sunday's terrorist attack in Sydney.

In a statement to Tanjug, Stefanovic added that, for the time being, neither the Serbian embassy in Canberra nor the consulate general in Sydney had been contacted by any Serbians over concerns that their family members might have been attending a Jewish Hanukkah celebration targeted by the attack.

He said both the embassy and the consulate maintained constant contact with Australian authorities in the wake of the incident.

Stefanovic said 16 people, including one of the attackers, had been killed in the Bondi Beach attack and that 42 people had been hospitalised with wounds sustained in the shooting.
