Putin: We know what is going on with NIS, I am hoping for joint solution

MOSCOW - Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday he knew what was going on with the Serbian oil company NIS - which is under US sanctions due to its Russian majority ownership - and that he hoped a joint solution would be found.

"We know what is going on with the company NIS. We have an inter-state agreement, and our starting point is that the friendly Serbian leadership will have that in mind. We have an idea about how we want to proceed together. We are working on that, and I hope we will find the necessary solution," Russia's Sputnik news outlet quoted Putin as saying.

"Moscow's starting point is that Belgrade will meet its undertaken commitments and that Russia and Serbia will implement numerous other joint projects," the Russia Today Serbian-language news service reported him as also saying.
