BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut on Monday received a farewell visit from Ukrainian Ambassador to Belgrade Volodymyr Tolkach, with whom he discussed the current international circumstances and bilateral relations.
"Macut underlined that Serbia uses every opportunity to call for peace and expressed his hope that armed conflicts will stop as soon as possible and that space will be created for finding a lasting solution through diplomatic channels and negotiations," the government press office said in a statement.
"The Prime Minister reiterated that Serbia respects Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations and that it remains committed to preserving peace and stability in complex geopolitical circumstances.
He said that in the previous period, the Serbian government provided considerable humanitarian aid to the affected population in Ukraine through donations in the form of financial resources, medical and electric power equipment," the statement said.
"The Prime Minister said that Serbia will try to further strengthen relations with Ukraine, with a particular emphasis on the area of European integration.
Macut assessed that bilateral relations between Serbia and Ukraine are good and expressed the hope that they will continue to develop in the coming period for the benefit of the two countries’ citizens," it also said.
