BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut said on Wednesday tensions in the society were very high and that perseverance in dialogue was the only solution for overcoming political divisions.
Dialogue is a means of recovery and refreshing the society, Macut said on K1 TV.
"I think tensions are very high and that dialogue, in fact, is the only solution for a tired society like ours, which is in a state of political divisions that have also been spurred by the media, in a way. Like the president (of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic) himself said at yesterday's annual conference, peace and stability in the country are the foundation for our best economic period to continue, and that is completely true, those are real facts," Macut said.
Serbia's stable economic upsurge cannot continue unless tensions in the society are calmed, Macut said, noting that Serbia had a big economic potential and was the strongest country in the Western Balkans - and beyond.
"Looking at the situation in the region and Europe, I can say that we are the 'little tiger' of the Western Balkans and southeastern Europe, and that is completely true, but there has been a bit of a slowdown over the past year, and we may have become a little dormant economically due to the circumstances we were in," Macut said.
