PRISTINA - KFOR Commander Maj Gen Ozkan Ulutas met with the new special representative of the UN secretary-general and UNMIK head Peter Due in Pristina on Thursday.

"The meeting focused on the current security situation in Kosovo and highlighted the close cooperation between KFOR and UNMIK," KFOR said in a statement posted on Facebook.

Ulutas reaffirmed KFOR’s commitment to "continued coordination between the two missions", which he said was aimed at maintaining a safe and secure environment for all people across Kosovo-Metohija.

KFOR continues to implement its mandate, based on the 1999 UN Security Council Resolution 1244 - to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo-Metohija and freedom of movement, "at all times and impartially," the statement said.
