TALLINN - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said on Thursday in Tallinn, where she is on a two-day official visit, that Serbia and Estonia would be working on greater mutual understanding and closer ties and that the goal was for Serbia to build stronger bridges of cooperation with the Baltic states and have open communication with them.

Speaking to reporters, Brnabic said she had had very good meetings with Estonian President Alar Karis, Parliament Speaker Lauri Hussar and the president of the Estonian parliamentary committee on foreign affairs.

"On behalf of President Aleksandar Vucic, I extended an invitation to the president of Estonia, as well as to my counterpart, the parliament speaker, to visit Serbia. We will be working further on greater understanding between Estonia and Serbia. My goal in parliamentary diplomacy is to build much stronger bridges with the Baltic states and to have open communication where we can discuss all topics that sometimes lead them to deny consent to opening certain clusters (in Serbia's EU accession talks)," Brnabic said.

She noted that, in December 2025, the Serbian government had decided to open an embassy for the Baltic states in Riga, and said she hoped this would be completed by end-March.

"For the first time, we will have an embassy in the Baltic states. In the past, we had an embassy or a charge d'affaires in the 1920s or the 1930s. That is how neglected our relations with the Baltic states have been, so it is important to continue this work," Brnabic said.
