Djuric, Giaufret discuss Serbia-EU relations, pace of EU accession process

BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric met with Deputy Managing Director for Western Europe at the European External Action Service Emanuele Giaufret in Belgrade on Monday to discuss Serbia-EU relations, the pace of the EU accession process, regional cooperation and current international developments.

"The interlocutors underscored the importance of sustained and substantive political dialogue between Serbia and the European Union, as well as the continued enhancement of comprehensive cooperation in the context of ongoing reform efforts within the accession process, and the strengthening of stability and connectivity in the Western Balkans region," the Serbian MFA said in a statement.

"Minister Djuric emphasised that membership in the European Union remains a strategic commitment of the Republic of Serbia, reaffirming Serbia’s full dedication to the continuation of comprehensive reforms and to further intensifying cooperation with EU institutions and the Member States," it said.

The meeting was also attended by the head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Andreas von Beckerath.

Giaufret served as head of the EU Delegation to Belgrade between 2021 and 2025.
