Macut receives Ukrainian ambassador

BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut met with new Ukrainian Ambassador to Belgrade Oleksandr Lytvynenko on Wednesday to discuss strengthening of cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.

Welcoming the ambassador, Macut expressed a wish for a "continuation of good and successful cooperation established with previous ambassadors," the Serbian government said in a statement.

"Stressing the importance of bilateral relations, Macut assessed that the two countries have room for strengthening cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.

The Prime Minister said that Belgrade is following the developments in Ukraine with particular attention, especially the consequences for the civilian population and the difficult humanitarian situation.

Serbia, he added, will continue to provide humanitarian aid to the vulnerable population, in accordance with its capabilities - donations in the form of financial resources, medical and electrical equipment.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude for everything Serbia has done so far to help the Ukrainian people," it also said.
